Personalized Class and College Readiness Tutoring

Hi! My name is Joel Swirnoff, and I am looking forward to working with you.

I grew up in Lexington, MA and graduated from Lexington High School in 2022. I matriculated at Washington University in St. Louis, where I recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. 

 

Throughout college, I tutored students at the middle, high school, and college levels. I tutored in subjects ranging from history to chemistry. I find great joy in tutoring and in the learning process, and it is my goal to make this process work best for your/your child's learning style. I know how stressful AP classes and the college rat race can be. I plan to provide an encouraging and supportive environment that focuses on actively learning the material, not simply rote memorization. 

 

I have worked with students with a range of knowledge about a given subject, from complete familiarity with the subject to none at all, as well as with students with disabilities like ADHD and dyslexia. I will provide an individualized approach that amplifies your/your child's strengths and improves upon weaknesses. This can include diagnostic sessions, varied session structures (practice problems, content review, timed practice, etc.), and making a long-term schedule together. Whatever it is you need, I intend to be flexible and to maximize our time!

 

Numerical qualifications: I graduated from LHS with a 4.1 GPA. While in high school, I received a 5 on five AP exams. I scored a 1540 on the SAT, with a 780 in reading/writing and a 760 on math. At WashU, I graduated with a 4.0/4.0 GPA. I am in the process of applying to medical school, and I scored in the 99th percentile on the MCAT.
